Best ways to learn Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning

Hey guys, my analysis for Quant and reasoning for all entrance tests and competitive exams.
While Quantitative Aptitude may sound to be something difficult, it, in fact, consists of the basic concepts you have studied during your school.
To get off to a running start when preparing for Quants, follow the steps below:
1. Know about the pattern of the competitive exam you are appearing for(Like CAT, SSC, Bank exams….).
Every exam has its own syllabus and its own weightage for each topic.
2. Be it any exam, you need to be thorough with the basic concepts of the following topics:
Quants
a. Number theory
b. Percentages
c. Ratio and Proportions
d. Profit and Loss
e. Speed, Time and Distance
f. Time and Work
g. Averages
h. Simple and Compound Interest
i. Geometry
j. Time, Clock and Calendars
k. Set Theory
Reasoning
1. Number series
2. Coding and decoding
3. Seating arrangements
4. Puzzles
5. Critical reasoning
6. Syllogism
7. Directions, Ranking ….

3. Don’t leave any topic unprepared. Every topic is important and in most of the exams, the weightage of questions from each topic is not fixed.
4. When preparing for any topic, note down all the formulae and never forget them. Don’t just mug up the concepts; instead, understand their applications and try to remember the formulae accordingly. This way you would be able to answer any type of question from that topic.
5. Make a chart of all the important formulae from all the topics and put it up in your room. You should know by heart tables, squares, cubes and the conversions of fractions to percentages and vice-versa.
6. Know the shortcuts for square-roots, cube-roots, HCF and LCM. Learn all the divisibility rules and factorization techniques. Being able to do fast mental calculations will help you gain speed. Also, calculators are not allowed in most of the exams.
7. Pick up topics one by one and practice intensively unless and until you become very clear about the concepts.
8. When you start solving the Quants section, glance through the questions once and mark the questions which you can solve easily and in very less time as 1. Mark the ones which you can solve but for which the steps for solving are time-consuming as 2. Finally, mark the ones which you think you can’t solve as 3. Start attempting the questions in the order 1, 2 and 3. Attempt questions marked 3 last and only if time permits.
9. Whenever you solve any question, note down the important data given in the question and then proceed with the value required to be found. This makes it easier to break down the question.
10. Find out alternative methods to solve the questions. Sometimes, solving by traditional methods takes more time.
11. Elimination of options is often a good way to go. You must always first scan the question and then check out the given options. Most of the times, as many as 2 options can be simply eliminated by logic and then choosing among the remaining options wouldn’t be a difficult task.
12. In case the exam has negative marking, avoid guesswork. Answering by simply guessing would just reduce your score.
13. Competitive exams are all about your speed and accuracy. Give as many mock exams as possible to increase your performance.
Best wishes for your preparation guys...
